George Thompson Pritchard (American, 1878-1962), Summer Landscape

Born in New Zealand, Pritchard began his art studies in his native country before relocating to San Francisco in 1906. After a few years in California and a brief stay in Wisconsin, Pritchard decided to continue his art studies in Paris at the Academie Julian and Vanderheldt Academy in Amsterdam. Upon his return to the states, he lived in Canada, California, and Richmond, Virginia. He lectured and exhibited extensively throughout the South until finally settling in California prior to the outbreak of WWII.
