Born in Indiana, studied at the San Francisco Art Institute. He was awarded the Theodoran Award from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 1977 and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1979. Now living in New York, Duff has exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, North Carolina, and the American Academy of Arts & Letters, New York since 2001.
