France, late 18th century, the underside bearing the mark of a script "B" possibly J.F. Boussemart, Lille, an unusual form having zoomorphic shaped handle and spout, the handle terminating in a mask, the body painted with allegorical figures in muted tones beneath scrolls and foliate bands.
