Augustus "Gus" Wilson (1864-1950), South Portland, Maine. Gus was the keeper of Marshall's Point Light and was provided the opportunity to watch eiders, scoters, mergansers, and other waterfowl dance and play on the water on a daily basis. He made some of the most sculpturally pleasing decoys of any decoy carver in America. This is one of those examples.

Length 17.5 in.

Original condition; wear to the edge and tip of the bill; chipping in the tail.
