19th century or earlier, ink and colors on silk, an impressive large vertical composition on brilliant blue ground dominated by a flowering tree full of red camellia blooms, a pair of geese stand together below surrounded by snow covered bamboo, the lower left corner bears the names Zou Yigui and Lang Shining in gold with three red seals, a cream silk border surrounds the painting, framed under glass.
Sight size 73 1/2 x 20 in.; Frame dimensions 82 1/2 x 28 in.
Accompanying documents relate provenance of the painting: "This scroll was acquired by Leroy Webber American Consul at Chafoo, China, March 28, 1934 by purchase; the scroll being from the collection of General Sung Ching, late Prime minister of North China, who had ducal rank conferred upon him by Emperor Kuang Hsu 1875-1907, General Sung was a native of the nearby city of Tengchoufu, Shantung."
Light minor scratches to surfaces; right side has two areas with minor vertical crease; foxing to white silk brocade border; not examined outside of frame.
