A talented genre painter, Thomas Webster was elected a member of the Royal Academy in 1846. Webster moved to Kent in 1856, where he became a founder and one of the leading figures in the Cranbrook Colony of Art.
A few small paint flakes with associated retouch visible under UV light; small area of paint cleavage and lifting along top near frame edge; some rubbing to edges from framing; minor retouch to lower right corner near frame; break to top right reticulated corner of frame.
