Work by WWII First Marine Division Combat Artist James W. Seese

A photograph of the James W. Seese holding a rifle is preserved in the Forbes Watson papers, Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. Works by Seese, when a combat artist in the Pacific, were published in The Old Breed: A History of the First Marine Division in World War II. Additionally, two of his paintings, "Working Party" and "Nature Scene," are retained in the collections of The University of Texas - Arlington.
