Samuel Doug Jester (1876-1961), Chincoteague, Virginia. He was a Chincoteague Island oysterman, guide, and decoy carver. His good birds are important and his great birds are the epitome of the best of Virginia folk art. This exact bird is published on page 8 of Decoy Magazine, March/April 2004 edition. It is made of cedar.
