New York, attributed to the Duncan Phyfe shop, circa 1810, curved paneled crest rails with rounded edge , lyre form carved and gilt back panels, upholstered slip seats with reeded rails and stiles, the front legs with gilt acanthus carved leaf surmounting a hairy carved ankle and paw foot, rear down-swept legs, appears unmarked.

From the Collection of Marcus Jones, Roanoke, Virginia Later upholstery; the first chair with two cracks and repairs to lyre back; break to upper right stile and lower left stile with repair; the second chair with break and repair to crest rail at stile joint; small upper left crack and repair to lyre back; break and repair to rear right leg; surface spotting and other age appropriate wear; later paint and gilt highlights.
