Antique Set of Eight Irish Chippendale Style Carved Mahogany Dining Chairs

Mid 19th century, shaped and gadrooned crest rail, pierced and carved back splat featuring a central thistle shaped drop tassel, over-upholstered plush seats, front cabriole legs with gadrooned carved knee on carved paw feet, rear turned legs with pad feet.

37 x 24 x 20 in., seat height 18 in.

Note the attention to detail in the carvings, as in the interior carved hair to the paw feet.

Later upholstery; scuffs to some crest rails; expected scuffs to feet; five chairs with hairline cracks and repairs to back splats; several shoes reset; two chairs with breaks and repairs to rear legs at seat rails.
