Continental Basket Hilt Broadsword

19th century, 36-1/2 in. straight double-edged blade, mark on ricasso, iron leaf guard numbered "36" with half basket and thumb slot, the grip wrapped in leather secured by wire; old metal collection tag fitted to guard. No scabbard.
