Circa 1800, .58 caliber octagonal-to-round smoothbore 9 in. barrel having crowned proof and view marks stamped to the left flat at breech, walnut stock with brass mounts, iron lockplate marked TOW, an owner's silver plate on the shoulder engraved with a Gothic "T S P"; the top flat fitted with a lethal 6-1/2 in. triangular steel bayonet with spring release.
