Vintage Model of the Clipper Ship Rainbow

Circa 1960s, mostly wood and canvas construction with a painted hull; includes some small plastic detail elements; mounted on a display stand with identifying plate.

Launched in 1845, Rainbow of New York was the first clipper ship designed for speed rather than cargo capacity. She made five voyages before disappearing at sea in 1848 while en route to China.

A few strands of loose rigging with one collapsed jib; overall intact and in good estate condition.
