Rufus Roberts (1897-1954), Churches Island, North Carolina. Rufus was born in Maple, NC but later moved to Churches Island to work with Bode White and his brother Oscar. Together with Oscar, they formed the Roberts Brothers' Lodge which tragically burned in 1935. Rufus made several stands of attractive canvasbacks and examples like this with neck shelves are the rarest.
