Lot Details & Additional Photographs
(London, New York & Melbourne: Ward, Lock & Bowden, n.d.), 12mo (7 x 5 in.), rebound in pale red morocco with gilt to top board and spine, publisher's advertising pages removed, first edition points present include "The Preface" italicized on page v and "Oscar Wilde" italicized on page vii, the publishers' names are repeated on the first rear endpaper; the title page is penned in what appears to be Wilde's hand, "To ------- (trimmed off horizontally) with compliments of author" while the half-title is pencil inscribed "Dr Perfinder" (?) over "Duchess of Padua 27 Feb 1908," perhaps marking a production of the play.
Only minor marks to the boards; light foxing to title and half title pages; tight binding, the pages with light age toning as expected; bookseller's pencil notation of price and a statement that it is "autographed"; overall very good condition.
