Vintage Fire Light, Northampton County, Virginia

Fire lighting was one of the market gunner's tactics to kill a lot of ducks with one shot. He would pole his skiff up to raft of birds; they would be blinded by the light and the gunner could sometimes kill twenty to thirty birds with one shot. This tactic was outlawed in 1918.
