Black Powder Percussion .38 Caliber Carbine or Converted Long Rifle

2nd half 19th century, unmarked 23 in. octagonal barrel with simple brass inlays at breech; appears to be smoothbore, lockplate engraved with quail and signed J. BISHOP, brass trigger guard and butt plate, coppertone pipes secure a maple ramrod.
