Circa 1890, .800 silver mark of Bruckmann & Söhne, retailer's mark for August Merklein, presented in the original fitted case with satin and velvet lining. The five piece set including a large double welled inkstand with finely cast model of Nike with laurel wreath and cornucopia (with integrated bell), a blotter with finely detailed cast bust of a woman, a candlestick held aloft by a winged putto, a letter opener with gilt blade and bust of a woman for the terminus, and a fountain pen. No monograms. Included with the lot is an associated seal, unmarked, cast in the form of the young Christ with orb, with engraved "AH" monogram.
