Private Collection of a Lady, Pittsboro, North Carolina

Paul Reed was the last surviving member of the Washington Color School. In 1965, he was included, alongside Gene Davis, Kenneth Noland, Morris Louis, Thomas Downing, and Howard Mehring, in the "The Washington Color Painters" launched by the Washington Gallery of Art.

Reed worked with color and abstract forms in a lyrical abstract expressionism. He used diluted acrylic paints to stain untreated canvases, defining his technique as blotting.

Good estate condition.
