Meiji period (1868-1912), signed to underside Hekizan with Shimazu crest above, decorated with very fine crackle, hand painted with jewel tone enamels of cherry blossoms and scrolling vines with peony blooms, cover has holes shaped as a river and two plover birds for releasing incense smoke into air, two gilt handles flank the bottom, raised on gilt legs.
