Early 20th century, these stylish dowitchers are referred to as the Winslow family shorebird decoys, the Emmitt Winslow family stand of decoys came from the Sand Ridge Lodge located in the Pea Island stretch of the Outer Banks, it is not known who made these decoys but Neil Midgett is a likely candidate as he was the care taker of the Sand Ridge Lodge and Winslow purchased other property from him, published on page 156 of
Shorebird Decoys of North Carolina by Kroghie Andresen and Philip Harvey.
