Ocracoke, North Carolina, this hen pintail is extremely rare and was made for Captain Thurston Gaskill (1902-2000), Thurston learned the intricacies of waterfowling from his father at an early age, he was a market hunter and very well known hunting and fishing guide, during the great freeze of 1918, he and is dad were iced in on Beacon Island for 21 days; during that time, they killed 325 geese, brant, and ducks; these birds were packed in barrels and shipped to market in New York City; this decoy is rare and significant.
