This is an antique copy of Stuart's famed and uncompleted portrait of Washington, known as the Athenaeum Portrait.

Untouched estate condition. No evidence of restoration visible under UV light; allover stable craquelure; puncture in lower left quadrant; area of paint loss at top center of canvas; area of paint loss to left of Washington's hairline; some scattered paint loss along edges of canvas; several abrasions to surface along lower edge of canvas; minor chipping to frame.
