Two-Piece 1850s MIlitia Belt Plate on Original Leather

The tongue device being an American eagle with 31 stars (signifying California's admission to the Union), the wreath a precursor of those found on Confederate sword belt plates (plate 52 x 90mm; belt 30-1/2 in.) (leather with crazing, but remains supple; overall very good).
