Lister Cartwright (NC, 1918-1992), Coot

Knotts Island, North Carolina, most of his coots have rough chopped bodies with a bill made from a nail and canvas, this particular decoy is unusual as it has a peg bill.

Length 13 in.

The Lister Cartwright coots are some of the more significant coot decoys from the south. They have tremendous folk art appeal.
