Maria Van Langevelt's Needlework Sampler Dated 1754, Dutch

Worked in multi-color silk threads on linen, centering on a finely worked gazebo, composition includes large scale blossoms, butterflies, birds, urns with tulips, and flowering trees, maker's name stitched to bottom register and dated "ANNO 1754," all within a floral border, conservation mounted and presented in a molded burlwood frame.

Sight size 16.25 x 14.75 in; Frame size 19.25 x 17.5 in.

Purchased April 2011 from M. Finkel & Daughter, Philadelphia and accompanied by photocopy of original receipt and original information sheet.

Good estate condition; some discoloration to border; not examined out-of-frame.
