19th Century Telescope with Documented WWI Naval Service

Attributed by a vintage tag as "single draw marine telescope American or English ca. 1825," the tube consisting of lacquer over wood, brass mounts on either end; included is a framed certificate signed in print by Assistant Secretary of the Navy Franklin D. Roosevelt during the First World War, in which F. B. Livesley is thanked for participating in the "Eyes for the Navy" program by lending his antique telescope to the war effort.

Telescope 20-1/2 in. length overall

Some minor veneer losses and hairlines to the tube; the brass with a slight push near the front; unknown if fully functional, though light is visible through the eyepiece. Good condition; the document with a damp stain.
