Antique Framed Silk and Watercolor Pictorial Needlework, Continental

Circa 1820, worked in multi-color silk and chenille threads and watercolor on silk, depicting an exotic scene of two resting zebras beneath a willow tree and with a thatched roof structure and blooming shrubs, watercolor detailing to sky and clouds, conservation mounted and presented in a molded and beaded frame.

Sight size 10 1/8 x 13 5/8 in.; Frame size 13 1/8 x 16.25 in.

Purchased July 2008 from M. Finkel & Daughter, Philadelphia and accompanied by a photo copy of original sales receipt.

With some discoloration and puckering; frame with some nicks and light discoloration; not examined out-of-frame.
