Serial number 55916, caliber 45-70, 32-3/4 in. round barrel with front and adjustable rear sight; marked N.J on left at breech, the high arched breechblock stamped MODEL 1873 over eagle head and arrows, US below; iron mounts on walnut stock, arsenal numbered 31 on breech and butt plate tang; includes ramrod.

Working action; light, scattered pitting to lockplate and barrel; the stock with expected wear and dings from service; overall very good condition.
