Originally from Iowa, Jill Troutman began painting at the age of 45 when she received a fellowship with The Art Students League of New York. She later settled with her husband in Mebane, North Carolina where she continues to paint and has established a garden for the visually impaired. In October 2019, the Mebane Arts & Community Center presented a solo show of Troutman's work titled New Beginnings Again: Paintings by Jill Troutman.
