Doug Marlette was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. His experiences growing up in the south - from North Carolina to Mississippi and Florida - were great inspiration for his popular syndicated comic strip, "Kudzu." In 1988, he won the Pulitzer Prize for his editorial cartoons at The Charlotte Observer and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
