Register of Enlistments of Indian Scouts, folio (16-1/4 in.), gilt calf, the spine with "U. S. Government Bindery" cartouche; the blank forms within are pre-printed to record information such as a recruit's name, date of birth, hometown, occupation, age, enlistment circumstances and physical description; plus,
Post Letters Received, folio (16-1/2 in.), gilt calf, blank forms to record a letter's receipt, sender, date, subject, and "action" (to be taken).
Both books with wear and some losses to the leather; the Recruitment ledger's title plate is chipped; the interiors are toned, but quite clean. Overall very good condition.
