Mitchell Fulcher was the premier decoy carver from Carteret County and is considered one of North Carolina's finest makers. This decoy has the "MOTT" brand in the bottom signifying that is was part of the Pilentary Club stand from Portsmouth Island, North Carolina. Joseph Mott owned the club from 1905 until 1920 when it was sold to the Lassiter family of Charlotte, North Carolina. The Pilentary Club was destroyed in the 1933 storm.
