Peter Burr (1727-1795), a cousin of Aaron Burr, was born in Fairfield, Connecticut. In 1751 he was granted a large acreage in, what is now, the Eastern Panhandle of Western Virginia. The Peter Burr house is the oldest standing wood frame structure in West Virginia.
