Born in Glasgow, James Hamilton Mackenzie studied at the Glasgow School of Art. After traveling in France and Italy, he returned to Scotland. He exhibited at the Glasgow Institute, Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolor, Royal Society of Arts, Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, amongst other venues.
