Qing dynasty (1644-1912), probably 18th century, lacquered and painted panels with gilt, the smaller panel has red ground painted in black, green and gold with elegant figures in a palace courtyard, some ladies performing music while one dances for a noble seated male figure, a peacock roams through the scene, and the larger panel with noble male figures in robes outlined in gold, blue mountains rise above a palace or temple complex, swirling clouds above, both panels set within lacquered frames decorated with floral cartouches on a gilt diaper ground accented with jade dragon shaped belt hooks, panels have glass covers, set into later custom wooden table stands, both panels can be lifted out freely from table stands.
