.58 caliber, 39-3/8 in. round barrel stamped LAC twice before breech, distinct "P" and weak "V" proofs on left side at breech; walnut stock variously fitted with brass and iron mounts; the lockplate stamped 1861 / L.A.Co. under nipple with crown over V.R. behind hammer; the butt stamped on the right with a large "G" behind an 1861-dated London Armoury stamp; the brass buttplate's tang is stamped with Confederate inventory number "531."
Private Collection, Charlottesville, Virginia Working action; The stock with patches of old, crazed varnish; some small areas on varnish splashed on lower barrel; lacking ramrod and missing a screw for the rear lockplate escutcheon on the left side. Overall a very rare Confederate import that is solid and ready to restore.
