Virginia Federal Cherry Cellaret

Attributed to Richmond, early 19th century, yellow pine and poplar secondary, two part form, dovetailed bottle case featuring a hinged lid with through mortise and tenon bread board ends, divided interior with remnants of old wallpaper (pre-1840), the case with distinctive applied waist molding with scratch beaded edges, the stand featuring a single flush drawer with scratch bead, applied cock beading to bottom edge of skirt, flush side rails raised on square tapered legs.

The bottle case seats in to the frame properly using the bottom board; finished on all four sides.

Tight shrinkage split to top and left batten; later hinges and clasp; no key; some cock beading loss at base of skirt to frame; drawer bottom later; front left leg with break and repair; later glue to all leg joints, however, legs/frame/case are original.
