A Japanese Square Lacquer Stand

Edo or Meiji period, 19th century, black lacquer ground hand painted in gilt and silver with two family crests mons amidst scrolling lotus vine in gilt, dimpled sides, red lacquer surface with family crest mons repeated in gilt and silver, probably a wedding gift for a match between the two families, unmarked.

4 1/2 x 8 x 8 in.

Overall good estate condition; two minor cracks to underside of foot rim; small nick to interior of raised rim; some light wear to the surface.
