Lyman Whitaker has a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of Utah and has been practicing sculpture for over 50 years. Although Lyman has a broad repertoire of work, since the mid 1980s his primary focus has been on wind sculptures for which he is best known. Inspired by plant like shapes, his artistic process often starts with drawing shapes on paper, which are cut and then shaped and forged in metal by hand. His works are designed to move and harmonize with nature. Concerned about the sustainability of our culture’s present systems, Lyman’s passion is to have his artwork symbolize a move toward better solutions in our relationship with the environment. He was one of the founding members of Artspace in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has gallery representation across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Good estate condition with natural patina from outdoor display; one wind cup element with dent to rim edge. Base retains concrete from outdoor ground mount.
