American born Albert Dakin Gihon studied with several of the preeminent artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. He began his studies at the Pennsyvlania Academy of Fine Arts under Thomas Eakins and William Merritt Chase. He then traveled to Paris to continue his studies at the Academie Julian and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.

Gihon exhibited at the Paris salons, the Salon de Artistes Independents, the Salon de Artistes Francais, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
