Attributed Norfolk, Virgina, circa 1900, painted cast iron loosely mounted to cut log base via an iron stake.
Height 13 in.
From the Personal Collection of Mr. Kroghie Andresen, Charlotte, North Carolina Sink box wing duck decoys were made of iron which was poured into molds and allowed to cool. Iron quail are extremely rare. It is believed that this iron quail was used as a decoy to attract hawks to be shot in order to protect farm poultry.
