John Guard was an early market hunter and later a guide who operated two blinds near the Currituck Shooting Club. He carved roughly 75-80 wood ducks and about the same number of canvas swan decoys. This widgeon is in dry original paint.

Original paint with moderate gunning wear, working repair to the neck.
