Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century, ink and colors on gilt paper, two six panel folding screens, the first painted with a lush spring through summer landscape beginning with a cherry blossom tree full of white and pink flowers in moriage technique arching over flora of spring and early summer, the second screen is painted with a tranquil late summer into fall landscape, with a large Japanese maple tree its red and orange leaves arching over the scene of seasonal flowers below, a blue stream flows through both screens and connects the overall compositions at the center, backed with traditional pattern paper, black lacquered wood frame.

Overall very good condition; some areas of loss and repair between panels, especially to central two panels on both screens; on the Fall screen: some areas of discoloration to fourth panel on fall screen by chrysanthemums beneath the stream, an old repair and along in that same area; the sixth panel with possible water mark down to very left side and some discoloration to pigments from water to hillside; a diagonal tear to lower section of fifth panel; on the Spring screen: a horizontal and diagonal tear to the paper on lower section of second panel; some small minor puncture holes; some vertical tears to third panel on lower right hand side; some discoloration to pigments probably from water damage to lower portion of fourth panel; some cracking to panel in upper and lower right hand side of sixth panel; repair to one bottom wood frame strip.
