Late 19th century, made in France of Damier Ebene canvas with iron and brass stud mounts (all studs engraved "Louis Vuitton"), a frontal lock and side handles. The lid opens to an inner tray over a deep recess. Interior covered in red-on-white striped canvas with paper label, marked "Paris 1, Rue Scribe Louis Vuitton 149, New Bond Street. W. London." Inside lid has a criss-cross ribbon card/ticket holder.
20 1/2 x 24 x 17 in.
Fair condition with rust to the metal; bleaching wear to the canvas; remnants of travel stickers on three sides; tear to the rear canvas below the lid. Missing lower inside hat shelf and key.
