Ocracoke, North Carolina, circa 1905, carved and painted wood, iron bill and stake, mounted to wood base, published on page 116 of Shorebird Decoys of North Carolina by Kroghie Andresen and Philip Harvey.

Length 9 in.

From the Personal Collection of Mr. Kroghie Andresen, Charlotte, North Carolina

This early turn of the century beach robin from the Gary Bragg family has an iron nail bill while other examples have wood bills. Evidently, several stands were created to support their commercial hunting operation but also subsistence hunting for the family.

Original paint, lightly hit by shot, corrosion to iron bill.
