Hired as a staff photographer by the new LIFE Magazine in 1936, Alfred Eisenstaedt became one of the leading photojournalists of the 20th century. He took the iconic photograph for LIFE, V-Day in Times Square, which pictures a US Navy Sailor spontaneously kissing a stranger - a dental assistant - on the street in celebration of Victory over Japan Day. Using his small and unassuming 35mm camera, Eisenstaedt was able to capture many emotionally-charged wartime moments. Farewell of Servicemen offered here is a wider shot of family and other loved ones bidding farewell to World War II soldiers beneath the clock of the old Penn Station.

Overall very good condition; some light sheet rippling; small smudge at right (2 mm.); minute dust particles to surface; some hinging residue to verso.
