A Chinese Export Lacquered and Gilt Tea Caddy

Circa 1850, of rectangular bombe form with intricately gilt bird and floral motifs on an umber ground, inlaid escutcheon, opens to a removable lidded pewter compartment engraved with bird and floral motifs within key and beaded borders.
