A wooden panel with three sections of carving to the upper portion and the lower portion having decoration painted directly on the boards in gilt and black of a palace scene, the largest of the upper carved section is surrounded by a black ground inlaid with mother-of-pearl in shapes of flowers, fruit and key motif, flat sections of the panel painted in red.
31 3/4 x 19 3/8 in.
Private Collection, Martinsville, Virginia Wear and loss to paint and gilt especially on lower section; some loss to mother of pearl inlay; overall wear with losses to red paint on surface; edges reflect where previously secured to other architectural panels.
