Lot Details & Additional Photographs
The horns as follows: the largest one (22-1/2 in.) is etched with scenes of marauding Indian warriors in a landscape; plus... a second horn (14 in.) is etched "Charls Town" over a view of the city and has a decorative cartouche reading, "Charles Salzhauer / His Horn / ANNO 1928"; the last horn is the oldest and is plain cow horn with some utilitarian carving, but no decoration (1/2 in. worm hole to side); plus... three Civil War style belt plates as follows: the US oval is a re-enactor plate; the M1851 plate with silver wreath is a reproduction; the M1851 plate without silvering is likely authentic to the post Civil War era.

From the Estate of the late Mr. & Mrs. Charles and Cynthia Salzhauer, Oxford, North Carolina
